School Board

As the son of a school teacher and with 4 children currently attending KSD in elementary, middle and high schools, Dr. Miller is deeply passionate about education.

He has had extensive involvement in education through his own schooling as well as working as a tutor, teacher, and currently as an orthopedic surgeon on WSU medical school’s clinical faculty. Unfortunately over the past few years, schools have increasingly become the battle ground for extreme political agendas, social ideologies and cultural dogmas. Schools have lost their focus on academics leading to struggling students, poor test scores and frustrated teachers. Dr. Miller is committed to returning our focus to what matters most, educating and preparing our children for their futures.

Ideas that shape the future

Focusing on what matters most

Focusing on Academics

Whether students are preparing for college or vocational training, school should be focused on academics in helping to prepare our children for their futures.

Encouraging Parental Engagement

Students and schools are more successful when schools and teachers collaborate and engage parents and families to participate in their child’s school and education.

Demanding Fiscal Responsibility

We don’t need to keep asking for more money in levies and taxes, we need to focus on using the money we have more responsibility and efficiently.

Focusing on Academics

The focus of school should be on academics and helping our children excel in reading, writing, math, science and history. Starting with elementary school and extending all the way through high school graduation, we should be ensuring that our children have mastered the academic fundamentals that will be critical for their success as they move forward either to college, the military or vocational training.

Encouraging Parental Engagement

No one cares more about their child than a loving parent. Whether they are helping to motivate and encourage the child’s intellectual growth and curiosity, or dealing with emotional or behavioral challenges, parents are often critical to helping their child succeed. As such, parents should be welcomed and encouraged to collaborate with teachers and schools in helping their child excel.

Demanding Fiscal Responsibility

With increased living costs, escalating inflation and a possible looming recession, we can’t expect to continue to ask taxpayers for more money. As a district we need to ensure that we are using the taxpayers’ generous contributions efficiently and effectively.
